IB DP SEHS A.4 Recovery

£2.00

This PowerPoint guides students through the learning objectives for Option A topic A.4 Recovery.

The lesson begins with an interesting article on the consequences of overtraining with reference to rhabdomyolysis in Crossfit. This starter activity is structured to help students to engage with the article in increasing degrees of depth (Blooms). My students really enjoyed this article and were keen to learn more about the topic – some even considering it for their IA!

The fitness-fatigue model of exercise is explained with a graph.

The bulk of the work is then completed by the students as they are expected to research one protocol for improving recovery as they either write an essay or create a poster comparing the effectiveness of two protocols.

The presentation includes hyperlinks to easy-read websites as well as scholarly articles on several approaches to improving recovery.

Students should read / review the work of other students and make notes.

This series of lessons will take 2-3 hours
